I have a user on Windows XP. They can install the Select Services with no problem and the server instance shows as Online on the local machine. The client version 2.4.30715.60 installs fine with no errors. When the user starts the client, the Connect to Server screen opens and it says "Refreshing" in the Available Servers section. The client then crashes, giving the generic Select.exe error pop-up "Select.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...."
The following is all that is in the event log.
EventType clr20r3, P1 select.exe, P2 2.4.30715.60, P3 4ac502a6, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4889dc80, P7 41b3, P8 a3, P9 system.typeinitialization, P10 NIL.
Any ideas of what this could be? Are there any other logs that we can check for Select on why it is crashing?

Re: Select Client crashes on Connect to Server screen
Two thoughts.
1. Attach a debugger to the process in order to get more exception information.
2. You can also try installing the Microsoft Loopback Adapter in that machine. This can be accomplished using the network adapater area of the control panel.

Re: Select Client crashes on Connect to Server screen
John, we got around this by adding the Server URI to the Select.exe.config file so it bypasses the connect to server screen. When we get more time we'll take another look at it but since he doesn't really need that feature and connect we're good for now.
