Attempting https Select connection via SSL-offloading load balancer

Post by toddsou »

We're trying to setup a test configuration where we can connect our 4.6 SPS client to our pool of 4.6 SPS servers using the https protocol.

As mentioned in a recent form post...
Select only supports http you need a third party app to redirect if the customer needs https. The F1 help page states at the bottom of the page:

Security and Encryption

Important Note: Message level encryption has been removed with Select version 4.4 and above.
• To incorporate SSL security, System Admins must set up an HTTP off-loader from a 3rd party.
...this seems pretty straight forward.

I think John Morris mentioned here ( viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1100 ) that ya'll use the Zen load balancer internally, at SoftPro. We use Zen internally, too. However, our attempts at getting this https connection test to work have not hit the mark so far.

Would you mind sharing what settings you use on the Zen load balancer to make it work using an https-based connection from the SPS client?

Thank you.

Sorry, but I do not have any further information. Do you have any specific question that I can forward on?

Our attempts at getting a 4.6 client to talk to a 4.6 server via https going through a Zen load balancer have proven unsuccessful. As mentioned earlier, it was my understanding that ya'll also used a Zen load balancer internally so I was hoping we could share some settings that we have missed in our setup, in order to allow a successful https connection.

So, as far as specific questions (all in regard to Zen load balancer farm settings):
- What setting should we choose for "Http verbs accepted" ?
- What do you recommend for "Backend connection timeout" ?
- ...for "Backend response timeout" ?
- ...for "Client request timeout" ?
- Farm listener set to https....true ?

Thank you.
